How Xenly looks after your family’s information

Xenly is made by XenAI Limited, a UK company, which is responsible for your information. We collect as little as we can, only what’s needed to help your child learn to read. Questions at any time: support@xenly.co.uk.

What we collect about you, the grown-up

  • Your email address and a password (stored scrambled, so nobody can read it).
  • Your name, if you give it.
  • Whether you’ve confirmed your email.
  • When you signed in, so we can keep you signed in safely.
  • Your family account’s name.

What we collect about your child

  • A first name or nickname.
  • Their school year (Reception, Year 1 or Year 2).
  • Whether they use Extra Support mode, and how you said reading is going (optional).
  • The avatar they chose, and whether the dyslexia-friendly font is on.
  • Their learning: which sounds they’ve practised, which needed a second go, the creatures they’ve grown, their Big Migration results and weekly summaries.

What we never collect

  • Your child’s voice or any audio. Nothing is ever recorded or uploaded.
  • A date of birth, surname, photo, school name or address.
  • Notes about your child in your own words.
  • Anything for advertising. There are no adverts and we never sell data.

Where it’s kept, and who helps us

Our database is in the EU (Railway, EU West region). The website itself is served by Vercel. Emails like password resets are sent by Resend, which sees only your email address. The weekly summary is written with the help of Anthropic’s Claude, which is sent numbers and sound spellings only (for example “12 sounds practised, sh needed a second go”), never a name or an email.

Cookies

One essential cookie keeps you signed in. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.

How long we keep it

  • While your account is open.
  • Deleting a child erases everything about them straight away.
  • Deleting your account erases it, and your family’s children, straight away.
  • If nobody signs in for two years, we remove names and email addresses and keep only anonymous learning numbers.

Your rights

  • Download everything we hold, or delete your account, from Settings at any time.
  • Change your child’s details from their page on your dashboard.
  • Ask us anything, or to correct something, at support@xenly.co.uk.
  • If you’re unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

Designed for children

Xenly follows the ICO’s Children’s Code: the most private settings by default, no profiling for adverts, no nudges to share information, and a grown-up always with the child. Children never have their own login.
